Interpublic Adds Two to Global Talent Leadership Team

August 1, 2011 at 2:23 PM EDT

NEW YORK, Aug 01, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Interpublic Group (NYSE: IPG) announced today two additions to its senior corporate Human Resources leadership. Both women move into their new roles from within IPG.

In the new positions, Beverly Popielarz and Marge Hoey will have the same title: SVP, Global Director of Talent, effective immediately. Popielarz moves from her current role as Draftfcb's Chief Talent Officer, while Hoey is currently Associate General Counsel for IPG. As part of a reorganization of the corporate HR department, the two will work as partners and both will report to Philippe Krakowsky, IPG's Chief Strategy and Talent Officer.

Hoey will oversee the HR team for IPG corporate employees and the company's new HR systems as well as corporate policies. Hoey will continue to serve in her important role working on diversity and inclusion initiatives. Popielarz will oversee leadership and development, compensation and benefits.

"As we look to take talent management to a new level in these very dynamic times for media and marketing, it's important to put in place a team of senior leaders with a deep understanding of our business and the needs of our operating companies," said Krakowsky. "Beverly and Marge each bring strong industry experience, as well as exceptional expertise in their respective fields, to their new responsibilities. I'm looking forward to working with them, as well as our agency CEOs and Chief Human Resources Officers, to ensure that we lead the way in terms of how we bring people into the organization, help them build careers, incentivize our talent and further our efforts in the area of diversity and inclusion."

Popielarz moved to New York in 2005 to join FCB Worldwide as Chief Talent Officer. Previously, she spent 10 years at FCB in Los Angeles, building a Human Resources team expressly focused on attracting and retaining great talent. She has also served as Managing Director of The Watts Group, an executive recruiting firm specializing in marketing and advertising. Popielarz, who started her career at Ogilvy & Mather in Los Angeles, also has experience in the entertainment industry, having served as VP of Human Resources for PolyGram Entertainment. "I have had a remarkable opportunity here at Draftfcb, and am very happy and fortunate to now have another one working with Philippe and Marge," said Popielarz. "I look forward to taking all that I've learned at Draftfcb and from my HR colleagues here and within our partner IPG agencies to this new and challenging role."

Hoey has worked at IPG as Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary since 1994. In that time, she worked closely with all of the company's corporate departments and its major agencies on a broad range of matters, from industry issues to acquisitions, employment law and the talent function. She helped build an industry-leading legal team at Interpublic and was instrumental in launching the company's diversity and inclusion initiative. Prior to joining IPG, she served as Senior Counsel at Grey Advertising. "I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work with Philippe and Beverly. This new role brings together all my experiences and will allow me to continue to help our people maximize their potential at IPG and across all our agencies." Hoey said. "Our people are absolutely our greatest resource."

Both Popielarz and Hoey indicate that a primary concern for them will be to foster a more collaborative relationship to support the needs and expectations of the diverse group of agencies within the holding company. A successor to Popielarz has not yet been identified. She will therefore initially split her time between Draftfcb and IPG until her previous post has been filled.
