Interpublic Taps Shumaker for Business Development Role; Agency Veteran to Focus on North American Growth

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 21, 2005--The Interpublic Group (NYSE:IPG) announced today that Chris Shumaker, 45, will be joining the company. He will be Senior Vice President, North American Network Development, focusing on the company's growth and collaboration initiatives in its North American region. Shumaker will join Interpublic in approximately six months, following a required notice period at Grey. He will report to Steve Centrillo, Executive Vice President, Chief Growth Officer.

A veteran of Interpublic, Shumaker spent nine years at The Martin Agency in Richmond, VA. He was Senior Vice President and Director of Development there from 1995 through July 2004, a period during which the agency enjoyed conspicuous growth. Since September of 2004, Shumaker has been Director of Development, North America at Grey Worldwide. At Grey, he has worked on major global pitches including the recent Manpower win. Before he joined The Martin Agency, Shumaker was Manager of Marketing Communications for Hamilton Beach/Proctor-Silex. Before moving to the client side with Hamilton Beach, he spent six years in account management for various Richmond-based agencies.
